In this original comedy murder mystery dinner show we take you back to Arizona as it was in 1882. The townspeople of Heartsville (a fictitious town based on Tombstone) have invited you and your guests to their town meetin' at the Golden Day Saloon to find the "yellow bellied coward" who shot their sheriff in the back the night before.
As guests arrive they pay their last respects to Sheriff Slaughter who is laid out in his coffin. Next, they meet Miss Kitty (who owns the Golden Day Saloon), ole Ben the town drunk (who still hopes to strike it rich some day), Miss Nellie (who runs the infamous Bird Cage Hotel), and Snakeoil (who will be trying to sell one of his many ointments promised to "make you see double and feel single."). While all this is going on, the Editor of the town newspaper hands out the daily paper (which is also the program) and 24 guests are given parts to play -- including the town banker, Doc Holiday, Johnny Ringo, saloon girls from the Bird Cage Hotel, the mayor, and the town undertakers. Guests are also given props to assist them in getting into character.
After cocktails we start the town meeting which will progress over dinner. You will meet famous characters like Wyatt Earp and be surprised to find out what happens in a small town like Heartstville. There will be music, a robbery and of course the opportunity to lynch the scoundrel who shot the sheriff.
The entire murder mystery dinner show takes about 2½ hours. Costumes and props are of the highest quality. This show was the first murder mystery to be nominated for the prestigious "AriZoni" award for excellence in theatre for an original script. While the storyline is fictitious, the historical data included is entirely accurate.
The murder mystery dinner show is suitable for up to 300 guests; however, if more than about 150-175 guests are included, body mics and additional staging are required. No set is needed, although many venues provide suitable backgrounds for the old West. The performance works with either a sit-down dinner or a buffet (if the buffet is broken up into segments so that there is action followed by dining, followed by action, etc.) Guests are encouraged to dress Western, but it is not necessary. The show also includes a professional Stage Manager who will coordinate all details with the venue, including the timing of food, arrangements of tables, background music, etc.
Please note that this show can be performed as an interactive event for 200 or more guests in several rooms. Please call for details and ask about Heartsville Hanging Party. Ideal for corporate entertainment.
